SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Lowell Devils were unable to solve the Springfield Falcons on Saturday night as they fell by a score of 3-1 at the MassMutual Center. It was the Falcons' eighth win in nine games this season against the Devils and also extended Lowell's winless streak to twelve games.

The Falcons scored early in each period throughout the game starting at 4:42 of the first period. Rob Schremp put the Devils down 1-0 when he found a loose puck behind the net and tucked a wraparound shot between the left post and the skate of Frank Doyle.

Springfield struck again at 3:31 of the second frame, taking a 2-0 lead on Jonas Almtorp's first goal of the season. Noah Clarke helped Lowell get back within one five minutes later with its first man-advantage of the game. Stephen Gionta tossed a pass toward the net that settled near the leg pad of an unsuspecting Devyn Dubnyk. Clarke was able to sweep in and poke the puck across the goal line before the Falcon goaltender could gain control. The tally was Clarke's 14th goal o! f the season.

Stephen Werner gave the Falcons a two-goal cushion one last time just 3:24 into final stanza. Patrick Thoresen was able to step around his man at the Lowell blue line to start a 2-on-1 and find Werner for the easy tap-in.

Doyle finished with 27 saves in the loss. The Devils were 1-for-2 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.
