Sioux Falls, SD- The Sioux City Explorers left-hander Cody Forsythe pitched a gem on Friday night, pitching seven scoreless innings to help clinch the 3-0 victory over Sioux Falls at the Birdcage.
Sioux City recorded their first run in the eighth, and two more runs in the ninth inning to get the 3-0 victory over Sioux Falls. X's shortstop Nate Samson knocked in the first run with an RBI double. In the ninth inning, two runs crossed for Sioux City on an error and a bases-loaded walk.
In the bottom of the ninth, X's closer Connor Overton (s-10) sent down the Canaries in order to get the save and cinch the Explorers victory.
Explorers starter Cody Forsythe (6-4) received the win on the night, pitching seven scoreless innings while recording six strikeouts.
Canaries starter Joe Bircher (1-6) finished with a no decision, allowing no runs in seven innings pitched. Sioux Falls reliever Madison Boer (2-6) was charged with the loss, giving up an earned run in the eighth inning.
