Idaho Steelheads News Release

Stockton, CA- The Idaho Steelheads (14-3-1) picked stayed perfect in seven meetings with the Stockton Thunder (5-9-3) this season as they earned a 2-1 comeback win tonight at Stockton Arena. Rejean Beauchemin now has five wins in six starts for the Steelheads.

The only fireworks in the first period had to do with the fisticuffs, and each of the two tilts involved the Steelheads Adam Huxley. Returning to his old stomping grounds of Stockton, where he played three seasons, he first battled Garet Hunt less than a minute into the contest, and secondly, engaged with Ryan Constant.

In the second period, Stockton's Igor Gongalsky netted the game's first goal, taking an Oren Eizenman pass from behind the net, and firing the puck by Idaho goalie Rejean Beauchemin. Stockton carried a 1-0 lead into the second intermission.

The Steelheads got on the board when Evan Barlow knocked home the rebound from a Brendan Milnamow shot at 5:06 of the third. Tyler Spurgeon also assisted on the goal.

At 7:31, Mark Derlago moved the puck out from behind the net, and fired past Stockton's Bryan Pitton for the eventual game-winner, assisted by Milnamow and Barlow.

The Steelheads improved to 7-0-0 against Stockton this season as Rejean Beauchemin improved his personal record to 5-1-0. Beauchemin stopped 23 of 24 shots. Pitton stopped 26 of 28 Steelheads shots in a losing effort. He is now 1-5-1.
