November 30, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release
BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads dominated the Anchorage Aces, outshooting them 40 to 21, and won their eighth consecutive game against them tonight at the Bank of America Centre before 4,881 fans. Jason Cugnet recorded his first shutout of the year, and second of his professional career.
Anchorage could not penetrate the Steelheads league-leading penalty kill despite having five power play opportunities, two in the first period. On the flip side, the Steelheads got their first power play opportunity at 2:44 of the middle period, and took advantage of it 13 seconds later when Joe Rybar scored, assisted by Wes Dorey. At the 6:00 mark, Michal Pinc blasted one by Anchorage goaltender Christian Soucy's short side from inside the blue line on a feed from Dan Shermerhorn to put the Steelheads up 2-0. Then, Cory Morgan got sweet revenge when he scored 40 seconds (15:52) after Aces' Carl Drakensjo was called for holding against him. Marty Flichel and Chris Marinucci assisted the goal. The Steelheads power play force once again capitalized in the third, when Joe Rybar scored at 6:00, fed by Scott Swanson and Morgan.
