Blades Sweep Pride With 3-2 Shootout Win

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (9-6-5) upended the Pee Dee Pride (11-6-2) 3-2 in a shootout to earn a weekend sweep in front of a crowd of 6,187 at TECO Arena on Saturday night. Recently acquired forward Alex Zinevych scored the final goal in the shootout and goaltender Cam McCormick earned his first win in an Everblades uniform.
The Everblades struck first on a goal off the stick of forward Tom Nelson at the 10:53 mark of the first period. Forwards Kevin Brown and Marty Johnston picked up the helpers on Nelson's fourth tally of the season. The Pride then tied the game after forward Gregor Krajnc notched his fourth goal of the season on a redirection at the 14:54 mark of the period. Pee Dee forward Mike Glumac then gave the Pride a 2-1 lead after he fired a shot through the legs of Florida netminder Cam McCormick.
After a scoreless second period, in the third period forward Kevin Brown fired a snap shot inside the near post on the power play to tie the game at 2-2. Forward Marty Johnston picked up the lone helper on Brown's third goal of the weekend.
After a scoreless overtime, recently acquired forward Alex Zineyvch fired a shot past Pride netminder Matt Underhill to give the Everblades the overtime win and the weekend sweep of the Pride.
Florida goaltender Cam McCormick (1-1-0) stopped 28 of 30 shots he faced while Pee Dee netminder Matt Underhill (6-4-0) stopped 28 of 30 shots. The Everblades were 1 for 5 on the power play while the Pride were 0 for 4.
Florida takes on the South Carolina Stingrays next Friday and Saturday night at TECO Arena. The puck drops at 7:30 PM on both nights.
