
Steelheads Defeat Bulldogs

MISSISSAUGA, ONT. - The Hamilton Bulldogs (7-13-1-0) were defeated 5-1 on Wednesday morning by the Mississauga Steelheads (11-10-0-2) at the Hershey Centre.
The Steelheads opened the scoring at 5:51 of the first period as Daniel De Sousa knocked a loose puck behind Charlie Graham to give the home side a 1-0 lead. Nathan Bastian and Ryan McLeod would get the assists on De Sousa's first goal of the year.
Just 50 seconds later Thomas Lattavo netted his third of the season by converting a nice pass from Everett Clark to make it 2-0. Jason Smith would also get an assist on the goal.
Mississauga would score once more before the period was up as Bastian collected his ninth of the season from Michael McLeod and Alex Nylander.
After the first 20 minutes the Steelheads found themselves up 3-0 despite recording only six shots on goal.
In the second period Hamilton got on the board when Joesph Mizzi scored his first OHL goal by banging in a rebound at 2:05 of the period. MacKenzie Entwistle and Jesse Saban picked up the assists on the play.
Hamilton out shot Mississauga 12-5 in the second period but were still down 3-1 after 40 minutes of play.
In the third the Steelheads added to their lead as Ryan McLeod, the third overall pick in this year's OHL Entry Draft, scored his first OHL goal at 5:32 from Nicolas Hague and Clark.
The Steelheads would get one more before the end of the game as Nylander converted a shorthanded chance at 9:55. It was the first shorthanded goal Hamilton has allowed all year, the last team to do so. Bastian would get the assist, his third point of the night.
Jack Flinn would make 23 saves for his 11th win of the year, while Graham would make 13 saves in the loss. The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday night when they visit the General Motors Centre to take on the Oshawa Generals. Game time is set for 7:35 p.m. The 'Dogs are back at home the following day, Saturday, November 21st,to face the Ottawa 67's for the second time in seven days. Puck drop is 7:00 p.m.
