BOISE, Idaho -The Idaho Steelheads announced today that defenseman Jared Nightingale has been signed to a two-way AHL/ECHL contract and is expected to split time with both the Iowa Stars and Steelheads this upcoming season. Idaho is the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Dallas Stars and AHL's Iowa Stars.

A native of Cheboygan, Michigan, Nightingale made his professional debut with the American Hockey League's Springfield (MA) Falcons in late March of last season. The 6-3, 200-pound defenseman registered his first professional goal on April 8th, 2006 against Providence. A right-handed shooter, he skated in 156 career games in four seasons at Michigan State University, accumulating 161 penalty minutes and 23 points (2g-21a). Born on October 3rd, 1982, he was an Assistant Captain with the MSU Spartans during his senior season.

"Jared is a highly sought-after defenseman who we'll be watching at Iowa's [trainining] camp," said Steelheads head coach and director of hockey operations Derek Laxdal. "He's a hard-to-find d-man and we'll welcome him to our lineup this fall."
