Toledo Walleye News Release

(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks, announced today that they have signed defenseman Jon Sitko and forward Andrew Martin for the 2006-07 season

"Both of these guys could contribute right away, " said Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Nick Vitucci. "Sitko has the ability to be a force on the blue line, because he is a big hitter. Martin is a guy that will be around the net and may contribute big offensively."

Sitko will move up I-75 in 06-07 after playing four years in the CCHA with the Bowling Green Falcons. While at BGSU, the 5 foot 10 inch, 190-pound defenseman was a bruiser - ranking third on the team in PIM during his senior season (57), and finished in the top three during his sophomore and junior campaigns. Sitko's father, Michael, played collegiate football Wilfrid Laurier University - the same college where Jon's Toledo Storm teammate, Richard Colwill, spent the past two seasons.

Andrew Martin comes to northwest Ohio after playing four seasons with UMass-Lowell. For the RiverHawks, Martin tallied 100 points (39 G, 61 A) in 126 career games. The Brampton, Ontario native ranked second among all UML scorers in back-to back seasons; in 2003-04, Martin finished with 34 points (10 G, 24 A) and in 2004-05 he added 32 points (12 G, 20 A) to his career ledger.

The 16th Season of Toledo Storm Hockey debuts on October 20th at the Toledo Sports Arena when the Storm take on the archrival Dayton Bombers at 7:35. Season Tickets are on sale for the 2006-07 season. Contact the Storm office at 419-691-0200 or visit www.toledostorm.com for more information. Toledo Storm Hockey...Great Team, Great Time!
