Augusta Lynx News Release

Augusta, GA - Tack two more names to the bulletin board for the 2006-07 Augusta Lynx, as the team announced today they have agreed to terms with forward Jason Kostadine and defenseman Jeff Mason.

Mason returns to Augusta after a rookie campaign here last season that saw him record four goals and eight points in 46 games in addition to 12 minutes in penalties. Prior to turning pro, the 25-year-old rearguard skated for four years at Providence College, appearing in 125 games for the Friars with six goals and 32 points.

"Jeff is a player who continually improved all season," said Lynx head coach and director of hockey operations Bob Ferguson. "He brings an offensive component to the team as well."

On the flip side of the coin Augusta also inks 6-2, 190 lb. power forward Jason Kostadine (KAHS-tah-dyne), who in two years as a pro in the ECHL has scored 10 goals with 25 points and racked up 410 minutes in penalties between the Texas Wildcatters, Stockton Thunder, and Reading Royals. The 23-year-old Silver Spring, MD native was originally selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the eighth round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

"In Jeff we get a good power forward that brings an obvious physical presence to the game," said Ferguson.

The Lynx now have 14 players heading to training camp this season: goaltender Brett Jaeger, defensemen Mason, Matt McNeely, Eric Lundberg, Phil Cole, Will Bodine, and Matthieu Wathier, plus forwards Kostadine, Ryan Lang, Louis Goulet, Joe Pereira, Jon Landry, Joe Cardarelli, and Matt Radoslovich. More signings will be announced in the coming weeks!

Season ticket packages are on sale now along with group and single game seats by calling the team office at (706) 724-4ICE, or stop by 551 Greene Street in downtown Augusta. Full season seats start as low as $360, so make sure you reserve your place for all the action now!
