IFL Quad City Steamwheelers

Steamwheelers Look to Take Down the Fighters

July 8, 2022 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Quad City Steamwheelers News Release

As their quest for the postseason continues, the Quad City Steamwheelers (8-6) will go on the road to take on the No. 1 seed Frisco Fighters (10-2).

The Wheelers have impressed recently, picking up back-to-back wins vs. the Bucks (46-36) and Knight Hawks (57-56). Those wins have left them in position to secure a spot in the 2022 postseason. With the Barnstormers at 8-6 and the Storm at 7-7, there will be no opportunities to take their foot off of the gas.

In Week 6, the Wheelers lost to the Fighters, 68-51. Quarterback E.J. Hilliard made his IFL return that night but hadn't yet found his footing, throwing 2 interceptions to go along with 2 total touchdowns.

A lot has changed since then. Hilliard has twice been named IFL Offensive Player of the Week, taking home the honor last week after his 8-touchdown performance closed out a 57-56 thriller vs. the Knight Hawks to notch Quad City's 8th win of the season (a franchise-best since joining the IFL in 2019).

The Wheelers will be in for a strong challenge against Frisco quarterback T.J. Edwards, who has thrown 7 touchdown passes to 1 interception over the last 3 weeks, and 18 touchdowns to only 3 interceptions over the course of the season.

Frisco's defense is coming off a dominant performance, holding the Green Bay Blizzard to only 27 points in Week 16.

What will happen when these two Eastern Conference rivals clash with postseason ramifications at stake? Tune in Saturday July 9th at 7:05 PM CT to find out.
