Quad City Steamwheelers News Release
(Davenport, IA) - Fans of the Quad City Steamwheelers will be able to show their appreciation at the second annual Steamwheelers' Team Recognition Banquet, to be held on Monday, July 24 at the Lodge Hotel in Bettendorf, Iowa from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. Tickets for the banquet are $10 for adults and $7 for children 10 and under. Fans may purchase tickets by stopping by the fan club booth on the main concourse at either of the final two home games or by purchasing on-line at www.steamwheelerfans.com (tickets purchased on-line will not be eligible to receive the children discount). Fan club members are able to attend for free by RSVPing with an officer of the club.
The event is a chance for fans to interact with the Quad City Steamwheelers as they gear up for the final game of the regular season and - hopefully- playoff run to the ArenaCup in August.
"We feel that fans will want to come out to visit with the team, obtain autographs and have photos taken before the team gears up for a hopefully successful playoff run," said fan club president, Gary Stibolt. "The fan club has always been focused on trying to help fans become closer to the team through a variety of services, activities and planned functions. We feel this event is a great way for fans to once again get to know the players that have been representing their community and to say thanks for all of their hard work this season."
The Banquet
The banquet will feature a program that includes a highlight video of the 2006 season. The highlights will include footage from games and a slide show presentation filled with photos and clips from various functions that the team participated in as well as fan photos taken at the games.
Steamwheelers staff, players and coaches will all have a chance to speak. Special Steamwheelers door prizes have also been planed for the event.
In addition, the Steamwheelers fan club will also present a check to the Boys and Girls Club of the Mississippi Valley during the banquet. The fan club voted this season to donate the proceeds from the raffle to the charity.
"Last season we raised over $500 for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Quad Cities through our 50/50 raffle," said fan club vice president, Will Long. "With two home games left, we are hoping to exceed that total this season."
The banquet will feature food provided by the chefs at The Lodge's restaurant, along with music provided by Ken Phillips, owner of The Entertainment Source, a mobile DJ service in the Quad City area.
About the Fan Club
The fan club has been organized to help bring fans closer to the team and provide support to the players throughout the season. The fan club provides many functions, such as parties for the team, help in locating jobs for the players as well as providing snacks after practice, home games and for the long road trips.
"We feel our fan club is one of the best in the af2," said Larry Bush, majority partner and managing operator of the Quad City Steamwheelers. "The help and services that they provide for the Steamwheelers throughout the season are invaluable and without them this organization would not be nearly as good as it is. All of their hard work and effort, not only with the team, but with their charitable work brings value to both the Steamwheelers and the Quad City community."
The fan club has a current total of 78 members this and is currently offering a special deal to attract new members. Fans signing up before the end of the regular season this year will receive free admission to the July 24 banquet as well as all the other perks of being a member through the 2007 season.
Membership to the club is $15 for a standard membership. Fans wishing to upgrade their membership to a family membership or to join in the pre-game tailgate should visit www.steamwheelerfans.com for more information or visit the fan club booth on the concourse at The MARK of the Quad Cities at either of the two remaining home games.
