WILSON, N.C - The Edenton Steamers scored eight runs in the fifth inning to break open what was a one-run game a cruise past the Wilson Tobs 12-2 on Tuesday afternoon at Historic Fleming Stadium.
Edenton (24-10, 6-2) sent 13 batters to the plate in their eight-run fifth which included five hits, three walks, a hit batter and one Tobs error which allowed a pair of runs to score. Chris Armstrong suffered most of the damage allowing three runs to score in his 1.1 innings of work.
Wilson (13-23, 4-4) took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second when Harry Slade singled in Phillip Williams who had walked to begin the inning.
The Steamers were able to push across a pair of runs in the fourth inning against Tobs starter Demetrus Ingram (L, 0-2) as the right-hander walked in a run and Koby Kramer delivered a sacrifice fly to left field to give Edenton a lead they would not give up.
Wilson returns to action tomorrow night at 7:05 when they travel to J.P. Riddle Stadium to take on the Fayetteville SwampDogs. The Tobs will return Fleming Stadium on Thursday night at 7:05 as Petersburg Generals come to town.
