Stealth set to begin training camp

Wichita, Kan. -The Wichita Stealth will take to the practice field on Thursday morning, March 18th at 6:00 a.m. at The Sports Zone (9020 W. Harry) to begin their fourth training camp. The Stealth finished the season last year at 8-7-1 and made a second straight appearance in the af2 playoffs, before losing to the Hawaiian Islanders by a score of 57 to 30.

"This is the time of year that we all work towards," said Stealth head coach Sean Ponder. "It finally gives the coaches a chance to evaluate the talent we have signed and it gives the players a chance to get their helmets on and show the coaches their skills."

The Stealth will bring 32 players to camp this season (30 on the roster and two international players) and every one of them have high hopes of making the final 21-man roster for the first game on April 3rd. The Stealth coaching staff must cut down the final 21-man roster before March 29th.

"It will be an interesting camp this year," said Ponder. "We have 32 guys who all have great ability and talent and their will be some hard fought competition at several positions, but that is what football is all about and we look forward to a great season."

STEALTH NOTES: The Stealth will kick-off the 2004 season on April 3rd at the Kansas Coliseum when they take on the Peoria Pirates.
