Stealth Come Home to Face Division Leaders

Wichita, Kan. - The Wichita Stealth will return home this weekend to take on the Southwest Division leading Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz on Saturday night, June 12th at the Kansas Coliseum. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. and tickets are still available by calling the Stealth office at 316.755.3307. The Stealth fell to the Yard Dawgz on May 22nd by a score of 53-25 in Oklahoma City. These two teams will face each other one more time on July 17th in Wichita.

The Yard Dawgz feature two former Stealth players in Drew Mitchell and Willie Grissom. Mitchell played in Wichita last season, while Grissom was a member of the Stealth in 2001 and 2002.

STEALTH LAST WEEK: The Stealth traveled to Tulsa, Oklahoma to take on the Tulsa Talons. The Stealth would lead 17-13 at the end of the first quarter, but Tulsa would score on a 31-yard touchdown pass from Bob Bees to Robert Reed and the Stealth could never regain the lead. The Talons held the Stealth to 182 total yards of offense on the night and defeated the Stealth 62-49 in front of 4,198 fans at the Tulsa Convention Center. With the loss, the Stealth fell to 6-3 on the season and 0-4 all-time in Tulsa.

AROUND THE SOUTHWEST DIVISION LAST WEEK: Oklahoma City traveled to take on the Laredo Law last weekend and came out with a 66-41 victory to improve to 7-2 on the season. The Law drops to 2-7 and are last in the division. Oklahoma City was led by quarterback Craig Strickland and Kris Peters. Strickland was 19-of-27 for 206 yards and four touchdowns, while Peters caught seven passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Peters also returned two kickoffs for 62 yards and one missed field goal 43 yards for a touchdown.

ON TAP IN THE SOUTHWEST DIVISION THIS WEEK: The Rio Grande Valley Dorados (3-5) will host the Tulsa Talons (6-3) this weekend. Rio Grande Valley is trying to snap a four game losing streak and the Talons are trying to notch their fourth consecutive win. The Laredo Law (2-7) will host the Bossier-Shreveport Battlewings (3-7). Laredo is trying to snap a two-game losing skid.

STEALTH PRACTICE PLANS THIS WEEK: The Stealth will practice from 6:30 a.m. to approximately 8:30 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday at the Sports Zone (9020 W. Harry) and on Friday from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 9:30 a.m. at the Sports Zone.

IN THE COMMUNITY: The Wichita Stealth dance team "The Bomb Squad" will be appearing at the Alta Mere car show this Saturday morning, June 12th, at Alta Mere West (770 N. West St.) from 10 a.m. until noon. Fans can come out and get an autographed dance team poster and purchase tickets for Saturday night's game versus Oklahoma City.
