Wolves On The Move; Player Comings and Goings

The 5-10, 175-pound native of North Braddock, PA native was a four-time member of the All-PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) West First Team as a defensive back. He was also a three-time All-PSAC West honoree as a return specialist. Hintz, a 6-3, 210-pounder from the University of Iowa, most recently played semi-professionally for the Racine Raiders of the NAFL. Wolves Fall To Pioneers, 57-41
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers scored a 57-41 win over the Wolves Saturday night at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza. With the victory, the Pioneers improved to 7-2 while Manchester fell to 4-5. The Pioneers were paced by the scoring tandem of QB Tim Hicks (43-23-0, 260 yards, six TDs) and OS J.R. Thomas (11 receptions, 150 yards, three touchdowns). Thomas earned Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Game honors for the third time this season. W-B/Scranton got out of the game quickly against Manchester, when Hicks connected with Thomas just one minute into the contest for a 22-yard TD pass. Manchester's Vernon Crawford gave the Wolves their first score of the night two minutes later on a 2-yard run to tie the score at 7-7. The Pioneers offense responded with two more TD passes to take a 21-7 lead over the Wolves. From there, the teams traded scores three more times before the half, and David Davis connected on a 16-yard field goal as the half drew to a close to give Wilkes-Barre a 31-20 lead at the break. Manchester adjusted nicely during the third quarter, outscoring the Pioneers 14-9 behind two TD passes from QB Chris Sanders. W-B/Scranton's defense played very well in the fourth quarter, limiting the Wolves to just seven points and picking off Sanders for the third time of the evening. Davis effectively put the game out of reach with 1:05 left to play by nailing his third field goal of the evening, this time from 23 yards out. The Wolves were led by George Williams (three TD catches, 158 all-purpose yards).
