Wolff Stadium, San Antonio, Texas - Brian Stavisky and Mark Trumbo each knocked in two runs as the Travs earned their third straight victory with a 4-2 defeat of the San Antonio Missions on Saturday night. Stavisky's two-run double in the eighth inning gave the Travs the lead, while Trumbo doubled and homered (5 with Travs, 31 total). Right-hander Francisco Rodriguez (3-3) earned the victory with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief. Rafael Rodriguez nailed down his third save in as many games (7) with 1.1 shutout innings.
San Antonio starting LHP Steve Garrison held the Travs without a base hit over the first four innings. Daniel Davidson, in his second start, left the game in the fourth with two outs after throwing his allotted 65 pitches. Yosandy Ibanez left the bases loaded when he induced Seth Johnston to bounce out.
Nate Sutton drew a walk to begin the fifth inning and scored when Trumbo drove a pitch through the breeze into the right-field gap for a 1-0 lead. Trumbo tried to advance to third base on the throw home, but was thrown out
Ibanez got through the fifth inning, but opened the sixth with a walk then Chad Huffman reached on a bloop single. With one out, Sean Kazmar hit a line drive into right-center for a triple knocking in two runs for a 2-1 Missions lead.
Garrison kept the Travs from reaching second base over his last two innings, but the Missions replaced him with Gabe DeHoyos for the eighth. Adam Morrissey lined a single to start the inning, then Adam Greenberg found a hole through the left side for a base hit. After Chris Pettit struck out on a bunted third strike, Stavisky stroked the next pitch down the left-field line knocking in the winning runs.
Leading 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Francisco Rodriguez allowed a leadoff single to Kyle Blanks. He advanced to third base on two wild pitches, but Francisco struck out Craig Cooper before Rafael Rodriguez whiffed Johnston to end the threat.
Trumbo smashed his solo home run off Mauro Zarate in the ninth over the left-field wall to cap the scoring.
Time of game was 3:02 and the paid attendance was 5,539.
The Travs gun for their fourth straight win on Sunday evening at 6:05 p.m. David Austen (0-1, 4.61) is scheduled to start the game for Arkansas while the Missions send RHP Stephen Faris (7-5, 3.27)
