Staten Island Yankees News Release
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.-The Staten Island Yankees fell in the final game of their series with Vermont 8-5 on Friday night at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.
Vermont (14-20) scored first on a home run by Kyle McCann, but the Yankees responded with RBIs from Spencer Henson and David Metzgar to take a 2-1 lead after three innings.
However, a five-run fifth inning would be a major difference as Vermont took a 6-2 lead on a three-run double by Jordan Diaz.
The Yankees responded with a Henson two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth, but a two-run home run by Lawrence Butler in the sixth would give the Lake Monsters an 8-4 lead and they would not look back.
Ezequiel Duran would drive in a run in the sixth, but the Yankees would not score again.
The Yankees are back at home tomorrow as they welcome the Aberdeen Ironbirds to Richmond County Bank Ballpark for a three-game series.
