-SPIKES LOOK FOR SECOND WIN VS. SCRAPPERS: The Spikes take on the Mahoning Valley Scrappers tonight in the finale of a three-game series at Eastwood Field. State College has now drawn to within 5-2 in the season series, winning back-to-back road games for the first time in 2008 and taking their third series victory of the year with the win last night. It's also the first time the Spikes have won back-to-back games at Eastwood Field since June 27-28, 2006. Mahoning Valley leads the all-time series, 15-12.

-LAST NIGHT: State College brought out the heavy lumber in a 10-5 win over Mahoning Valley at Eastwood Field. The Spikes smacked four home runs, two of them from Andy Vasquez, whose five RBI set a new Spikes record for a single game. Ciro Rosero and Kyle Morgan also contributed homers. Rudy Owens held the Scrappers hitless in his five innings of work to get his second win of the year. The four homers tied a Spikes team record for a game, set last July 12th against Lowell.

-TONIGHT'S SPIKES STARTER: Wilson Ortiz gets the ball for State College in the series finale. The right-hander makes his 13th appearance and fifth start of the year. Ortiz went three innings in his last start on August 8th against Williamsport, allowing a run on three hits and four walks. Since then, Ortiz has made two relief appearances against Staten Island and Jamestown.

-TONIGHT'S SCRAPPERS STARTER: Left-hander Kaimi Mead gets the start for Mahoning Valley tonight. Mead makes his 13th start, the most for any Scrappers pitcher in 2008. Mead will be facing State College for the first time this year. The southpaw has held left-handed hitters to a .234 average this year. Last time out, Mead got the win with a five-inning start against Jamestown, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out three.

-NEW SPIKES RECORDS: Andy Vasquez joins Justin Byler and Mark Hamilton as the only Spikes with two homers in a game...Kyle Morgan tied the Spikes record with four runs scored in a game...Vasquez's 5 RBI set a new record, beating six others who had 4 in a game.
