-SPIKES START FINAL HOME STRETCH: The State College Spikes finish a two-game set with the Auburn Doubledays tonight in their next-to-last home game of 2010. The Spikes will look to snap a six-game losing streak that stretches back to Friday. State College is 26-23 all-time, and 6-3 this season, against Auburn.
-LAST GAME: Zac Fuesser tossed six strong innings for the Spikes, but the Doubledays made an early run stand up to take the victory in a 1-0 pitchers' duel last night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Fuesser struck out four in his longest outing of the season, but allowed the game's only run in the second inning. The Spikes were held to two hits all night.
-WALDRON MAKES LAST 2010 START: Right-hander Tyler Waldron is scheduled to make his 14th and final start for the Spikes tonight against a club he has dominated in 2010. Waldron threw 11 straight shutout innings over two starts against Auburn on July 19 and July 24, earning the New York-Penn League Pitcher of the Week Award for his efforts.
-STRICKLAND TAKES HILL FOR AUBURN: The Doubledays will finish off the two-game set with left-hander Sam Strickland. Strickland has allowed ten runs, eight of them earned, in two starts against the Spikes, and has a 4.55 ERA away from home. The Houston native has three starts of six or more innings this season for Auburn.
-SANTOS NETS WEEKLY AWARD: Adalberto Santos was named the New York-Penn League's Player of the Week on Monday after going 8-for-18 at the plate with a homer over the last week. Santos is fifth in the NYPL in runs scored (45) and on-base percentage (.407).
-SPIKES WELCOME SINGH TO CLUB: Rinku Singh, one of the two pitchers signed from India by the Pirates in 2008, joined the Spikes on Monday. Singh, a left-hander out of Lucknow, India, went 2-0 with a save and a 2.61 ERA for the GCL Pirates in 2010.
