-SPIKES RETURN HOME TO RE-START SAWBUCK SERIES: The State College Spikes face their SawBuck Series rivals, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in the first game of four straight between the two teams tonight. Medlar Field At Lubrano Park will be the site for tonight's game, and the Spikes are 2-0 against the Crosscutters in State College this year. Williamsport holds the all-time series lead, 41-35, but State College has the 20-18 lead in games at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

-LAST GAME: The Spikes trailed going into the eighth inning, but a three-run rally sent them past the Mahoning Valley Scrappers to an 8-6 win last night at Eastwood Field. Jacob Stallings and Jodaneli Carvajal each had two hits and two RBIs. Alex Fuselier brought in what would prove to be the winning run with his lone hit of the game, and Barrett Barnes doubled in another run while stealing two bases. Luis Heredia went five innings, allowing three runs, in a no-decision. Pat Ludwig earned the win with 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief, while Kyle Haynes got the save.

-HOLMES HITS HILL FOR SPIKES: Right-hander Clay Holmes gets the start for State College on the mound this evening. The 19-year-old has gone five innings in four of his five starts to this point of his pro career, and has allowed just one unearned run in those outings. Holmes won his first two decisions as a pro, and his .146 opponents' batting average is the second-best in the New York-Penn League. Holmes's 1.14 ERA is also now the best mark in the Pittsburgh Pirates system.

-WARNER LOOKS FOR REDUX WITH CUTTERS TONIGHT: Right-hander Josh Warner is slated to start for Williamsport tonight. Warner went six innings and allowed just two unearned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out four to earn the win on Opening Night against the Spikes June 18. The Queensland, Australia native has gone seven innings in a start twice this year, but took the loss against Vermont last time out after going just four innings.

-SPIKES MOUND STAFFERS START STRONG: Jason Creasy, Clay Holmes, Luis Heredia, Jake Burnette and Joely Rodriguez each have at least one start of five innings or more with one earned run or less this year. Holmes, Heredia and Rodriguez hold three of the the top four earned run averages in the Pittsburgh Pirates' system, and the team's 3.26 ERA is tops in the organization.

-SPIKE MARKS: Barrett Barnes is tied for the NYPL lead in times hit by pitch with 6, and his ratio of one homer every 21.25 at-bats is fourth-best in the league...Rodriguez has allowed 8.69 baserunners per 9 IP and is fifth among NYPL starters in that stat, while placing fourth among the league's starters in opponents' batting average at .194...The Spikes are 4-1 on Wednesdays this year
