-SPIKES LOOK TO KEEP WINNING WAYS GOING TONIGHT: The State College Spikes have won two in a row, and will try to keep it rolling tonight as they face the Aberdeen IronBirds in the second game of a three-game set. State College is 2-2 so far in a six-game homestand, having gone 1-2 against the McNamara Division-leading Hudson Valley Renegades to start the homestand. The IronBirds hold the all-time series lead, 11-7, and the two teams have split ten games played at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

-LAST GAME: The State College Spikes came from behind to tie the Aberdeen IronBirds in the eighth inning, and Tyler Gaffney's groundball to the left side in the ninth bounced off of third baseman Torsten Boss to allow Jesus Vasquez to score the game-winning run in the Spikes' 3-2 victory at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Kevin Kleis earned the win in relief with a one-hit ninth inning. The Spikes were down 2-1 in the eighth before Chris Diaz tied the game with an RBI single.

-HEREDIA MAKES LAST START AS A 17-YEAR-OLD TONIGHT: RIght-hander Luis Heredia makes his ninth start of the year, and his last at the age of 17, for State College this evening. Heredia, rated as the fifth-best prospect in the Pirates system by Baseball America, turns 18 on Friday. The Mazatlan, Mexico-born righty holds the second-best earned run average in the Pirates organization, and the eighth-best mark in the New York-Penn League.

-IRONBIRDS BETTING ON WAGER THIS EVENING: Right-hander Brady Wager is slated to start for the IronBirds tonight. Wager, the Orioles' ninth-round draft choice this year out of Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, started his pro career with the Gulf Coast League Orioles. The Globe, AZ native went 0-2 with a 4.26 ERA and 12 strikeouts to five walks over 12 2/3 innings in six GCL appearances, and made his NYPL debut this past Monday with four four-run innings vs. Vermont.

-SPIKES' PINK JERSEYS BENEFIT FIGHT AGAINST BREAST CANCER: The Spikes wore special pink jerseys as Mount Nittany Health presented Paint the Park Pink Night during last night's game. The jerseys were up for bids in a Jersey-off-the-Back Auction to benefit the Breast Care Center at Mount Nittany Medical Center, which raised $4,935 towards defeating breast cancer.

-SPIKE MARKS: Tyler Gaffney won the NYPL Player of the Week Award for July 23-29...Gaffney's 2 HBP last Friday set a Spikes single-season record, which has since risen to 14 (in just 24 games)...The Spikes are 7-1 in one-run games at home this year...Last night's game was delayed 39 minutes at the start due to aftereffects of rain showers in the State College area
