-SPIKES LOOK TO TAKE FINAL GAME OF SERIES TONIGHT: The State College Spikes will try to snap a season-long five-game losing streak tonight as they face the Hudson Valley Renegades in the final game of a three-game set. Hudson Valley leads the NYPL's McNamara Division by two games over Wild Card leader Brooklyn coming into tonight, while the Spikes have been held to just four runs over their last 41 offensive innings. The Renegades hold the all-time series lead, 11-8, and a 7-3 edge in games played at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

-LAST GAME: The State College Spikes battled from behind to take a 2-1 lead into the eighth inning, but for the second straight game, the Hudson Valley Renegades plated a trio of runs in that frame to take a 4-2 decision from the Spikes at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Thursday night. Chris Diaz delivered an RBI single in the sixth inning to give the Spikes the lead. Jacob Stallings picked up his 15th double of the year for State College, while Clario Perez took the loss in relief.

-SOUTHPAW RODRIGUEZ RETURNS TO MOUND TONIGHT: Left-hander Joely Rodriguez makes his ninth start of the year for State College this evening. Rodriguez holds the sixth-best earned run average in the Pirates organization entering tonight's game, and four of his eight starts have gone at least five innings with him allowing one earned run or less. Last time out, the Dominican lefty yielded two runs, one earned, over 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision at Lowell.

-AMES FINISHES SERIES FOR RENEGADES: Right-hander Jeff Ames is slated to start for the Renegades tonight. Ames, the Rays' supplemental first-round draft choice in 2011, went 4-2 with a 7.12 ERA and one save for the Rookie-level Princeton Rays last year. The Vancouver, WA native has bounced back this year, however, racking up 37 strikeouts to just 13 walks over 38 innings of work and putting up a 2.13 ERA on the season. Ames earned the win against Williamsport last time out.

-SPIKES WELCOME NEW FACES TO ROSTER: The Spikes were busy with transactions on Wednesday, with Emmanuel De Leon earning promotion to Single-A West Virginia and Barrett Barnes going to the DL. In their places, the Spikes welcome College World Series hero Jimmy Rider, first baseman/outfielder Jesus Vasquez and 2011 Spikes pitcher Kevin Kleis from the GCL Pirates.

-SPIKE MARKS: Tyler Gaffney won the NYPL Player of the Week Award for July 23-29...Gaffney's 2 HBP last Friday set a Spikes single-season record, which has since risen to 12 (in just 22 games)...The previous record of 9 was co-held by Brian Friday (2007) and Justin Byler (2009)...Gaffney also tied the club's single-game record of 4 runs last Friday vs. Connecticut
