-SPIKES START SIX-GAME HOMESTAND AGAINST JAMMERS: The State College Spikes face the Jamestown Jammers tonight to start a six-game homestand and a three-game series against the Marlins' affiliate. The Spikes will play 10 of their final 13 games of the New York-Penn League season at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, with three road games against the Jammers in the mix as well. State College is 2-2 against Jamestown this year, and 28-36 against the Jammers all-time.

-LAST GAME: Jesus Vasquez smashed his fifth home run of the season to pull into a tie for the State College Spikes' team lead, but the Auburn Doubledays came from behind late to topple the Spikes, 6-3, in the rubber match of a three-game series at Falcon Park on Thursday night. Vasquez's solo shot to left field in the third inning was his fifth of the year, matching Barrett Barnes's season total. A four-run seventh inning for Auburn propelled them on to the victory.

-SPIKES GO BACK TO HEREDIA ON THE MOUND TONIGHT: Right-hander Luis Heredia, the right-hander who is one of the Pirates' top five prospects according to Baseball America, gets the ball tonight for his 12th start of the year. The 18-year-old defeated the Jammers in his last outing against them, yielding two runs of three hits and four walks while striking out two in Jamestown. Heredia has the exact same ERA at home as on the road this year, but is 2-0 in State College.

-JAMMERS GO WITH HOPE ON THE HILL: Right-hander Mason Hope is slated to start for the Jammers tonight. Hope earned the win last time he faced the Spikes, pitching five one-run innings back on August 12. Hope, the Marlins' fifth-round draft choice in 2011 out of Broken Arrow (OK) HS, is making his 13th start of the year for Jamestown, and his 10th away from home. The 20-year-old went 2-0 with a 3.29 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 27 1/3 IP for the GCL Marlins last year.

-McPHERSON BECOMES 15TH SPIKE TO REACH MAJORS: Former Spikes pitcher Kyle McPherson, who was with the club from 2007-09, earned promotion to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night and became the 15th Spike to become a Major Leaguer when he tossed two scoreless innings against the San Diego Padres. McPherson was the Spikes' Pitcher of the Year in 2009. The Creola, AL native was returned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.

-SPIKE MARKS: Tyler Gaffney's five triples are tied for second in the NYPL...Tom Harlan's six losses are tied for second in the league...Samuel Gonzalez leads the NYPL with 5 sacrifice flies...The Spikes added right-hander Isaac Sanchez yesterday from the Rookie-level GCL Pirates...Sanchez went 3-1 with a save and a 3.00 ERA over 15 appearances (24 innings) for the GCL Bucs
