
Lowell Erases Tigers Lead

LOWELL, MA- The Lowell Spinners (31-33) scored six runs in the fifth inning to come from behind and earn a 7-6 win over the Connecticut Tigers (28-35) at LeLacheur Park on Friday night.
DH Tyler Hanover (2-4) drove in two runs for the Tigers on Friday.
The Tigers scored two runs in the first inning. CF Jake Stewart (1-3) walked and went to second base when SS Jared Reaves (2-4) was hit by a pitch. LF Danry Vasquez (2-3) hit a sacrifice bunt to move both runners into scoring position.
Stewart scored on a wild pitch by RHP Justin Haley and Hanover (2-4) hit a single to score Reaves for a 2-0 lead.
The Spinners scored a run in the first inning on an RBI single by 2B Mookie Betts (2-3). The Tigers scored a run in the third inning on a throwing error to make it 3-1.
Connecticut scored two runs in the fifth inning. Stewart singled and stole second base. Reaves singled to move Stewart to third base. The Tigers executed a double steal with Stewart taking home plate for a 4-1 advantage.
After the Spinners six-run fifth inning, the Tigers got a run back in the sixth inning. C Bennett Pickar (1-4) singled and moved to third base on a double by 2B Jordan Dean (2-3). A sacrifice fly to center field by Stewart scored Pickar to cut the lead to 7-6.
The Tigers and Spinners play game two of their series on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. RHP Tim Kelley (0-2, 4.59) gets the start for the Tigers against RHP Mike Augliera (0-3, 5.83) for the Spinners. Pre-game radio coverage starts at 6:50 p.m. on AM 1310 WICH and online at cttigers.com.
The Connecticut Tigers are the Class-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play in the New York-Penn League.
