Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Sunday's series finale between the Lookouts and Huntsville Stars was a true pitchers' duel. Unfortunately, a single run was all that was needed for the Stars to take the game and complete the series sweep in a 1-0 final at AT&T Field.
Steve Kelly, making his first start of the season for the Lookouts, stifled the Stars' bats for five shutout innings. The Stars had to wait until the 2006 Southern League All-Star was out of the game before plating a run.
Lookouts relief pitcher Ramon Ramirez was greeted in the seventh with a double from that bat of Adam Heether. Brendan Katin followed with an RBI single to left, which would turn out to be the game winner.
With the sound of thunder rumbling in the distance and an off-and-on rain, the Lookouts attempted a ninth inning comeback with Enrique Cruz and Luis Bolivar both hitting singles; however, Marino Salas earned his 17th save of the season by striking out Chris Tatum to end the contest.
Sam Narron (4-6) picked-up the win for the Stars after throwing six innings of four-hit ball with no walks issued and five strikeouts.
The Lookouts will hit the road to play a five-game series against the Birmingham Barons on Tuesday.
