
Stars Take Game Three, Series

On a hot Sunday afternoon at Trustmark Park, 2,069 fans watched the Huntsville Stars hand the Mississippi Braves their fourth consecutive loss and their third straight in this series. The Stars forced the issue all day and won, 3-1.
In the second, Adam Heether led off with a walk and moved to third on a single by Ryan Crew and scored on a single by Guilder Rodriguez. They added two more in the sixth when Heether and Mel Stocker came in to score on a single by Ron Corporan.
Mississippi got a run in the bottom of the sixth after loading the bases with one out. Matt Young hit into a fielder's choice that brought Carl Loadenthal to the plate with the Braves first run.
Charlie Morton pitched well despite giving up three runs and getting his fifth loss of the year. Phil Stockman combined with Brad Nelson to shutout the Stars through the final 3.2 innings.
Huntsville's Lindsay Gulin earned his 11th win after giving up only one run on seven hits in seven innings of work. E.J. Shanks threw a scoreless frame and David Johnson blanked the Braves in the ninth to earn his third save.
The Braves and Stars will play game four of this series Monday night at Trustmark Park at 7:05. Kelvin Villa will take the hill for Mississippi while Steve Hammond will go for the visitors. Monday is Dollar Dog Monday at Trustmark Park and, in addition, the first 3,000 fans will receive the third in a series of Commemorative Baseball Card Strips.

* The M-Braves first three batters combined to go 7-10 in the game ... The rest of the lineup went 1-18. * J.C. Holt went 3-4 with a stolen base. * Carl Loadenthal went 2-4 and scored Mississippi's only run. * Diory Hernandez went 2-4.
