FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends (3-6) fell short of a fourth-quarter comeback against the Salt Lake City Stars (5-4) 116-125.
The first quarter stayed close and saw three lead changes as the two teams exchanged baskets. Texas had tied it up with just over three minutes in the quarter, but the visitors finished on an 11-3 run to make it 28-20 at the first buzzer. Salt Lake City built up their largest lead of the night (+14) midway through the second, but the Legends finished strong, hitting 70% in the final 4 minutes to make it a 3-point game at the half.
Tyler Cook powered out 12 points in the third to boost the Stars to an 8-point advantage heading into the final minutes. The fourth was a shootout led by Tyler Dorsey and Grant Riller combining for 23 points for Texas. The Stars grabbed the first basket to make it a double-digit deficit but a 14-4 run by the home team had it tied halfway through. Texas stayed within three until the four-minute mark, but the Stars finished 8-of-8 at the line to seal the win. Texas hit 54% on the night and 34% outside; Salt Lake finished at 49% and 39% outside but doubled the home team's points from the line 24-12.
Dorsey finished with 30 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals while Riller added 25 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists. Olin Carter III came off the bench for a season-high 18 points, 4 rebounds, and Josh Nzeakor grabbed a double-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists.
Johnny Juzang led the Stars coming off the bench for 22 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Frank Jackson added 21 points, and Tyler Cook tagged on 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.
