Kings Claim Victory over Spurs

AUSTIN - The Austin Spurs (2-6) were defeated by the Stockton Kings (8-1) 112-98 at the HEB Center at Cedar Park on Monday night.

Four Spurs players scored in double figures. Blake Wesley led Austin with 29 points. Dominick Barlow scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Charles Bassey was shy of a double-double as he notched 15 points and grabbed 9 boards. Tommy Khuse chipped in 12 points.

Both teams traded buckets in the first quarter as Austin shot 57.9% from the field while Stockton shot 54.2% from the field. Tommy Khuse hit a buzzer beater layup to end the first frame to cut Stockton's lead down to five. The Kings went on a 12-2 run with 6:16 remaining in the second quarter to take the lead over the Spurs at the half, 68-50. Austin opens the third quarter to go on a 10-0 run to cut the lead down to 11 with 9:25 remaining. Though the Spurs outscored the Kings in the third (25-22) and in the fourth (23-22), Stockton ruled at the charity stripe with 16 claimed points (91.7%) that assisted in their victory.

Six of the Kings scored in double digits, with Neemias Queta scoring 24 points while getting 6 rebounds. Alex O'Connell notched 20 points going 5-7 from the three. Keon Ellis chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and three assists.

The Spurs are set to face the Ontario Clippers on Friday to start the double header weekend. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. at the HEB Center at Cedar Park.
