Stars Secure Six in a Row

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Salt Lake City Stars (15-13) , the official NBA G League Affiliate of the Utah Jazz, overcame a double-digit deficit to pick up their sixth win in a row, defeating the Grand Rapids Gold (11-18) (Denver Nuggets affiliate), 115-110.

Stars guard Isaiah Thomas led the team with 34 points, for his fourth consecutive 30-point game, knocking down seven three-pointers in 35 minutes. Utah Jazz assignment player Kenneth Lofton Jr., scored an impressive double-double performance on 28 points and 16 rebound, while dishing out seven assists. Stars guard Isaiah Miller led the way off the bench, scoring 12 points on 67 percent shooting, in just 16 minutes of play. Meanwhile, guard Taevion Kinsey filled the stat sheet with 11 points, six rebounds, four assists, a block, and a steal.

The Stars and Gold traded leads four times in the opening quarter. Grand Rapids took an early six-point advantage, before Salt Lake City charged ahead by as much as nine. Despite 20 combined points from Thomas and Lofton, the Stars found themselves trailing 32-30 to end the first. Salt Lake City watched the Gold's lead grow to 13 in the second period. Grand Rapids used seven made threes on 50 percent from beyond the arc, to take a 65-55 lead to the locker room.

Salt Lake City shot out of the gate from the half, taking a 12-2 run, cutting their deficit to just two points behind the Gold. The visiting Stars reclaimed the lead and entered the final quarter leading 84-80. The Stars would not trail again, sinking eight of ten free throws, and sealing their sixth consecutive victory, 115-110.

Denver assignment forward Hunter Tyson led the Gold with 29 points, adding nine rebounds, five assists, and seven threes in 41 minutes of action. Denver assignment guard Jalen Pickett tallied 22 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists for the Gold.

The Stars and Gold will rematch in Grand Rapids on Tuesday, March 19, as Salt Lake City looks to extend their season long winning streak to seven games. The contest tips off at 5:00 P.M. MT and will be broadcast LIVE on ESPN+.
