Lincoln Stars Goaltender Tomas Vomacka stops the Waterloo Black Hawks

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars (22-20-1-1) earned both points in a 3-2 win over the Waterloo Black Hawks (27-14-4-1) on Friday night at The Ice Box.
Black Hawks forward Garrett Wait began the scoring at 4:18 of the first period on the power play to take a 1-0 lead. The Stars answered back with two-unanswered goals starting at 4:57 with a rebound tally from forward Gustaf Westlund followed by a power play goal from forward Dominick Mersch thanks to a deflection off a Westlund shot at 11:43 to take a 2-1 lead. The Black Hawks tied the game, 2-2, at 19:23 on a power play goal from forward Ben Copeland.
After a scoreless second and third period, the Stars set up on a power play in overtime. At 1:29, defenseman Eero Terî=A4vî=A4inen lifted a shot from the blue line that went through a screen for his first career overtime goal and gave the Stars a 3-2 win.
Stars netminder TomáÅ=A1 Vomá=C4=8Dka (16-16-0) saved 33 of 35 shots in the win, while Matej Tomek (11-8-4) halted 29 of 32 shots in the overtime loss. The Stars close their season series with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders on Saturday, Mar. 3 at 7:05 p.m. from the Ice Box.
