Lincoln Stars News Release

The Lincoln Stars scored the game's first five goals and hung on to defeat the Omaha Lancers, 5-4, on Friday night at the Ice Box.

German Yavash and Juan Copeland both scored a goal and added an assist to give Lincoln (9-16-0-2) its first win of the season against Omaha (4-19-3-0). The Stars scored four times in the first period for their most goals in a period this season.

Dashel Oliver scored midway through the third period to give the Stars a 5-0 lead but his tally ended up being the game-winning goal after Omaha scored in the final second of the second period and then three times in the third period, twice with its net empty. He redirected Jacob Rombach's shot from the left point for his fourth goal of the season.

Kai Janviriya got the scoring started by poking home a rebound for his first goal of the season 1:12 into the game to kickstart the scoring.

Lincoln doubled up its lead when Copeland scored a coast-to-coast goal shortly after a power play ended at the 5:23 mark of the first. Adam Kleber dropped the puck off just to the right of the Stars net and Copeland took it the other way.

Jack Pechar and Yavash capped the scoring in the first with breakaway goals 6:49 apart to cap the busy first period. Pechar's was his team-leading 12th of the season and Yavash's was his first in his first game back after missing 10 straight games.

The Stars continue the weekend with another matchup against the Lancers, this time in Omaha at 6:05. There will be a watch party at Rosie's Downtown with Stars Amber Ale bucket specials, trivia and prizes.
