Stars Pick up Point in 4-3 Overtime Loss

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars (19-20-1-1) earned a point to finish the weekend during a 4-3 overtime loss to the Dubuque Fighting Saints (20-14-6-2) on Sunday afternoon at the Ice Box.
Fighting Saints forward Chayse Primeau started the scoring on the power play at 10:16 of the first period to take a 1-0 lead. Stars forward Casey Dornbach answered right back at 14:42 with a shot from the left circle to tie the game at 1-1. Just before the first period expired, Fighting Saints forward Matias Maccelli slipped a shot in at 19:59 to give the road side a 2-1 lead.
Stars forward Devlin McCabe found the lone tally of the second period at 12:39 when he deflected a pass in the high slot from forward Wyatt Aamodt and found an open net to tie the game, 2-2.
The Fighting Saints took the lead 3-2 at 10:15 of the third period on a Brendan Bushy tally from the left circle, but on a late power play, Dornbach answered with his second of the night from the right circle to send the game to overtime, 3-3. At 0:18, Fighting Saints forward Quinn Preston scored to give Dubuque the 4-3 overtime win.
Fighting Saints netminder Cole Weaver (11-7-3) stopped 28 of 31 shots in the win, while Stars goaltender Derek Schaedig stopped 24 of 28 shots in the overtime loss.
