Iowa Chops News Release
DES MOINES, IA - Iowa Stars President John Pettit is proud to announce that, thanks to various Iowa Stars sponsors, Season Ticket Holders and fans, the Iowa Stars Kids' Night Out efforts is sending over 1100 children to the Iowa Stars Friday, December 22nd game against Milwaukee.
Designed to benefit children at various Des Moines area charities, Kid's Night Out is a program in which the Stars asked Season Ticket Holders, Sponsors and local businesses to make either a monetary and/or ticket donation for underprivileged youths who would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend a game. The Stars in turn, matched each donation made and doubled the amount of tickets that were donated to the specific charities. Each donor was able to designate the charity of their choice or allowed the Stars to choose the charity for them. The Stars received donations from over 50 different companies and individuals.
"With 1100 tickets that were made available to these local charities, we are proud of our fans and the local business community and their support of this new Iowa Stars community program", commented Iowa Stars President, John Pettit. "Their generosity has helped provide these children with a special night out and hopefully a more enjoyable holiday season. We are grateful to our Season Ticket Holders, sponsors and all of those that donated and helped us make this a successful event".
Some of the 25 local Des Moines-area charities that benefited from the Stars first-ever Kids' Night Out event included: Blank Children's Hospital, Camp Fire Boys & Girls, Willkie House, Urban Dreams, and YWCA FaDDS.
The Stars have planned a second Kids' Night Out for Saturday, March 24th against the Milwaukee Admirals.
