Pirates Present "Goals for Success" Program

PORTLAND, ME - On Wednesday, December 20th, from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Portland Pirates players Geoff Peters and Garett Bembridge visited the Wentworth Intermediate School in Scarborough to present the Pirates "Goals for Success" program sponsored by Healthy Maine Partnership and Pepsi. The players interacted with the kids on subjects such as making smart decisions, the importance of setting goals and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. After interacting with the students on the topics the children had the opportunity to meet the players, get autographs and every kid received a free kid's ticket to an upcoming Pirates regular season home game.

The "Goals for Success" program was created to help educate kids about the importance of leading healthy lifestyles and to influence them to set goals and to make correct choices in their lives. The Pirates speak to the group about their own experiences as professional athletes, their goals, and what healthy choices they have made to achieve success in their careers. Over the five years of the program, the Pirates have reached over 7,000 Maine students.
