
Stars Fall Short to Skyforce 138-130

Sioux Falls, SD - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, fell to the undefeated Sioux Falls Skyforce (6-0) (Miami Heat affiliate), 138-130, on Sunday afternoon at the Sanford Pentagon.
Salt Lake City saw six players score in double-figures. The Stars were led by Utah Jazz two-way guard Josh Christopher, who notched an impressive 34 points on 8-of-12 shooting from three, to go along with five rebounds, and six assists. Utah Jazz assignment player Brice Sensabaugh, earned his second consecutive 20-point game, tallying 28 points, four rebounds and 3 assists. Fellow Jazz assignment player Taylor Hendricks, scored 18 points, grabbed five rebounds, and blocked a game-high five shots. Jazz two-way Micah Potter, posted 13 points, five assists, and five rebounds for the Stars.
Salt Lake City raced out to take a 17-0 lead in the first quarter, shooting .54 percent from the field, while holding the Skyforce under .40. The team kept up the momentum in the second, taking a 26-point lead, and knocking down 9-of-14 three-point attempts. Christopher scored 20 points in the quarter, sending the Stars into the break up, 73-55.
The third quarter took a turn for Salt Lake, as their seven turnovers, and 11 personal fouls invigorated a Sioux Falls offense that went on to score 49 points in the third. After leading for the first 33 minutes of the game, the Stars trailed by five to end the third, 104-99. Salt Lake City recaptured a brief 118-116 lead midway through the fourth quarter, but would be outscored by Sioux Falls who took the final victory, 138-130.
Sioux Falls guard Alondes Williams led the Skyforce with a franchise record of 55 points, adding eight rebounds, and seven assists. Miami Heat two-way Cole Swider, captured 37 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
Salt Lake City returns to action for a back-to-back set on Jan. 14 and Jan. 15, when they travel to Des Moines, IA., to take on the Iowa Wolves at the Wells Fargo Center. The first contest tips off at 3:00 p.m. MT and will be broadcast LIVE on NBA TV.
