
Stars Fall 7-4 in Cedar Rapids

Cedar Rapids, Iowa - The Stars fell 7-4 in a high-scoring home opener for the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders on Saturday night at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.
There was no scoring in the opening period, with the Rough Riders taking an 11-9 shot advantage into the first intermission.
The second period told a different story. Peppered with seven goals, the middle frame gave the game an injection of excitement.
Stars forward Patrick Polino made it 1-0 just 33 seconds into the period - then forward Will D'Orsi added another less than two minutes later to make it 2-0 early in the second.
Rough Riders forward John Snodgrass would cut the lead in half shortly after at 2:59 of the period.
Ludvig Hoff would strike back for the Stars - but three consecutive goals put the Stars behind 4-3 headed into the second intermission.
Stars forward Ethen Frank would even the score at 4-4 at 2:27 of the third, beating Rough Riders goalie Ryan Larkin over the left shoulder.
The score wouldn't hold however, as Cedar Rapids came powering back with three third-period goals including an empty netter to close the game at 7-4.
The Stars return to the Ice Box next Friday, Oct. 2 vs. the Omaha Lancers. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m.
