Youngstown Phantoms News Release
YOUNGSTOWN, OH- The Youngstown Phantoms lost to the USANTDP U-18 team by a final score of 6-4 Saturday night. A slow start led to USA taking a three goal advantage into the first intermission.
"After game one I think it's best to look at the positives. We're going to talk about the things we did poorly that led to a big first period deficit, but USA really capitalized on our mistakes. We'll take the positives, get better, and go from there," said head coach John Wroblewski after his first game as the Phantoms bench boss.
The Phantoms were able to mount a comeback in the second period to tie the contest at 4-4, but a late power-play goal and empty-netter sealed the victory for USA.
"We really dug ourselves into a hole early, but I feel like we got rolling after. If we tighten up our defense, we're going to be tough to play against. We'll figure it out," said Phantoms forward Lukas Craggs.
Newcomer Cameron Morrison scored his first USHL goal in the second period off an excellent feed from Chase Pearson.
"This league is a real change of pace from where I played last year. It was nice to get the goal but obviously doesn't mean as much with the tough result. I know we'll bounce back and have a great season," Morrison said.
The Phantoms will be back in action Friday, October 2 at the Covelli Centre. Puck drop is set for 7:05 against the Bloomington Thunder.
