The Iowa Stars got a goal from rookie Greg Rallo early in the second period that was the difference in a 2-1 win over the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights on Monday night at Wells Fargo Arena. The win gives Iowa a two-games-to-one lead in the best-of-seven series.

The Knights got a powerplay just 64 seconds into the game, and they hit pay dirt just 28 seconds later. Brett Skinner's shot from the point was stopped, but Brandon Prust kicked the puck through Dan Ellis' pads. Chris Lee was on the other side to slam home his second goal of the playoffs.

The Stars tied the game on their own powerplay less than four minutes later. Junior Lessard took a pass along the left wing wall and wired a shot past Curtis McElhinney to make it 1-1 after one.

Iowa took the lead of the game early in the second period. Defenseman Mark Ardelan kept the puck in at the left point. He fired a shot back on goal. McElhinney made the save, but Rallo banged in the rebound for his first playoff goal.

In the third period, the Knights outshot the Stars 9-6 but could not convert. The best chance came late in the period when Tomi Maki was stopped by Ellis with a right pad save.
