Stars Acquire Laczynski, Hamilton from Chicago

Lincoln, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars acquired forward Tanner Laczynski and defenseman Trevor Hamilton in a four-player deal with the Chicago Steel, the team announced on Tuesday.

The Stars traded affiliates Tommy Nappier, Adam Karashik to Chicago along with a first-round pick in the 2016 Phase II Draft and a fourth-round pick in the Phase I Draft. The Stars also acquired a sixth-round pick in the 2016 Phase I Draft.

"Our goal in Lincoln is to get better every day," Hull said. "We felt by acquiring these two players we helped address that. Both are proven players in this league and we hope they'll have a positive impact on our culture and on the ice."

Laczynski has posted 86 points in 92 games with the Steel. He is a 1997 birth year ranked third in league scoring with 13 goals and 27 assists in 33 games played this season.

"Tanner has put up points at every level," Hull said. "He's a proven producer in the USHL. He has a great ability to create and extend offense."

The Ohio State commit stands at 6'1" 197 lbs and competed at the 2015 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, represented the United States at the World Junior A Challenge and was ranked on the NHL Central Scouting North American Skater List.

Hamilton has posted seven goals and 19 assists through 34 games this season, putting him third in defenseman scoring. The 1995 birth year has 65 points in 130 career games played.

"Trevor can run the power play, plays with character and competes extremely hard," Hull said. "He was used in a utility role with Muskegon during their stretch last year and we hope he can do the same for us."

Hamilton, committed to Penn State University, played 31 games at Miami University before joining the Muskegon Lumberjacks for the 2014-2015 season. He stands at 6'0" 190 lbs.

The Stars are back in action Friday, February 5 against the Sioux Falls Stampede. Puck drop is set for 7:05 pm.
