DUBUQUE, Iowa - Dubuque Fighting Saints forward Michael O'Leary has announced his commitment to play college hockey at the University of Notre Dame. The Halifax, Nova Scotia native recently starred at the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Omaha, Neb. on January 12.

"It's an honor to join the Fighting Irish," O'Leary said. "It has been a school that has always appealed to me. When the opportunity became available for me to go there, I was incredibly excited."

"I think it's a great hockey program, and a top-notch school as well. I'm really excited."

Since being named to the Top Prospects Game roster on December 15, O'Leary's point production took off. 11 of his 17 points on the season followed, including four goals and seven assists.

"Michael has excellent skill and vision that allow him to be creative," Fighting Saints head coach/GM Jason Lammers said. "We believe Notre Dame has added an excellent person and player to their organization."

O'Leary scored the fastest goal in the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game's history, and for his exploits at the game, his equipment resides in the Hockey Hall of Fame. Before joining the Fighting Saints, the C-ranked skater played in two seasons with the Salisbury School in Connecticut.
