
Stanford Samuels To Solidify Defence

Montreal, Feb. 24, 2009 - Montreal Alouettes' Vice President and General Manager Jim Popp announced today that veteran defensive back Stanford Samuels has signed a two-year contract plus an option.
Samuels (5'10'', 192 lbs) will begin his fifth CFL season. He began his career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2005 after attending training camp with the Indianapolis Colts a year earlier. In his first year as a Bomber, he stared 14 of 17 games played, intercepting two passes and notching 61 tackles, two special teams tackles, five knockdowns and two sacks. He then signed with the Edmonton Eskimos as a free agent in 2007 before returning to Winnipeg in 2008. He has eight career interceptions.
The Alouettes' training camp will begin this June 7.
