Spokane Shock News Release

June 8, 2006 - SPOKANE, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today that DS Jesse Hendrix, 5'9" 180, and OL/DL Patrick Afif, 6'7" 340, have been assigned to their roster by the af2 League Office. To make room on their roster OL/DL Brian Devine and DS Jerome Dennis were placed on recallable reassignment.

Hendrix just completed a four-year career as a member of the Eastern Washington University Eagles that was highlighted by 113 tackles, five interceptions, and 1st Team All Big-Sky Conference his senior season.

Most recently, Hendrix signed with the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League, before being released last week during their training camp.

During the Lions training camp, Hendrix registered a 4.3 in the 40 yard dash with a 40-inch vertical leap. His speed and vertical jump helped Hendrix hold the current school record in pass break ups (41) that he set his senior season.

Afif capped off a two-year career at Washington State University in 2005. As a Cougar, Afif played in 17 games - including six game starts. Before transferring to Washington State University, Afif played at Orange County Community College where he was selected as an All-American.

"It's great to have such a wealth of talent right here in our backyard; Jesse and Pat are excellent examples of that," Spokane Shock General Manager Adam Nebeker said. "Jesse's speed in the secondary will add another dimension to our defense, and Patrick will add much-needed depth to our line as we head into the second half of the season."

Hendrix will be eligible to play this weekend as the Shock travel to Louisville to take on the Fire. All the live game action can be heard on 105.7 THE BUZZARD with Larry Weir calling the game.
