Bakersfield Blitz News Release
Bakersfield- Head Coach Gary Compton announced today that new backup QB, Bobby Pesavento will start in the game against the Tennessee Valley Vipers on Saturday, June 10 in Alabama. Kick off is set for 5:30 p.m. (PST).
Head Coach Gary Compton commented on his decision, "Mike and Bobby are both at peaks in their af2 careers; however, Bobby has come out with a fresh arm and we want to take advantage of it. If something happens to Bobby on Saturday that pulls him out of the game, I am confident that Mike will be able to deliver."
In last Saturday's game against the Amarillo Dusters, Bobby came in for starting QB, Mike Wall in the second quarter. He helped put the Blitz back on track for a win streak with three touchdowns to finish the game at 40-39, in favor of the Blitz.
Originally from Scherville, Indiana, Bobby Pesavento (6'4, 230) graduated from University of Colorado in 2001. In Colorado, Bobby lead the Buffalos through a five win streak to the Big 12 championship and a spot in the Fiesta Bowl completing 61 percent of his passes. Shortly after, Bobby spent the 2002 season with the Cape Fear Wildcats of the af2. While playing for the Wildcats, he completed 71 percent of his passes for 824 yards. In 2003, he advanced to the AFL's Colorado Crush and then went on to play with the Austin Wranglers for the 2004 and 2005 seasons. While playing backup quarterback in the AFL, Bobby completed 65 of 120 attempted passes for a total of 680 yards and 10 touchdowns.
