Calgary Stampeders News Release
(Calgary) â The Calgary Stampeder Football Club is pleased to announce that at 11:45 am on Thursday, September 23rd (McMahon Stadium) several of the Stampeders will be shaving their heads in support of Kids Cancer Care Foundation.
In a tribute to his daughter, Grace who was diagnosed with Leukemia earlier this year, Jamie Crysdale and his team mates will be shaving their heads in an effort to raise funds for the Alberta Children's Hospital Cancer Unit through the Kids' Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta (KCCFA). Grace was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year. With the support of Kids Cancer Care and the Alberta Children's Hospital, Grace continues to receive treatment and is recovering well.
The KCCFA is dedicated to supporting children battling cancer and those who love and care for them. KCCFA helps these families by providing programs and funding in three crucial areas: Camp and Community, Paediatric Oncology Research, and Clinical Support. This holistic approach enhances the quality of life for children living with cancer, improves their odds for recovery and provides care for the whole family, during treatment and beyond. Funding for the Cancer Unit will provide in-hospital services to enrich the day-to-day care of children undergoing cancer treatment. KCCFA Clinical Support pays for specialized medical equipment not normally covered under provincial funding, psychological programs, educational materials, and comfort items like toys and computers to help pass the time for young patients during their hospital stays. All KCCFA programs are free to families and are generously funded by donations from individuals, service clubs, business, and foundations.
Anyone wishing to sponsor Crysdale's Shave Your Lid For a Kid event may do so by pledging on-line at http://www.kidscancercare.ab.ca/kccf/shave_your_lid_jamie_crysdale.htm or http://www.kidscancercare.ab.ca/kccf/shave_your_lid_matt_dunigan.htm or contacting Kids Cancer Care at (403) 216-9210. Tax receipts will be issued for all donations of $20 or more made on-line or over the phone. Volunteers from the KCCFA will also be collecting donations at the gates as fans exit the game on Friday.
