Calgary Stampeders News Release
(Calgary) - The Calgary Stampeder Football Club is pleased to announce that Stampeder fans came through once again. On Monday, September 6 vs the Eskimos the Stampeder Football Club held it's 14th annual "Be A Fan, Bring A Can" for the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank. It attracted yet another impressive drive, collecting $20,900 in cash and food donations. This boosted the fourteen year total over $268,634 in cash and food donations.
On Friday, September 17th when the Stampeders hosted the Ottawa Renegades. Classmates of Tyler Zeer from Bowness High School collected $8,575.68 for the Tyler Zeer Memorial Fund. On September 8, 2004 local football player Tyler Zeer died after suffering a head injury during a high school football practice.
On that same day the Salvation Army and Stampeder Football Club held its 2nd Annual Coat Drive. Stampeders fans also donated 270 coats. The coats will be given to men and women who stay at The Salvation Army Booth Centre and the Centre of Hope, as well as other individuals who come to The Salvation Army in need of winter clothing. Any surplus coats will be distributed to other city shelters. The Salvation Army also collected nearly $1000 in cash.
