June 29, 2005 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Calgary Stampeders News Release
(Calgary) - Today Calgary Stampeders' Head Coach and VP of Football Operations, Tom Higgins, announced the re-signing of Receiver Nik Lewis, Defensive Back Joey Boese and Linebacker George White to multi-year contracts.
As per Club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
"From the beginning it has been our commitment to our fans to create an environment within management/coaching and our players of long term continuity," stated President Ted Hellard. "Today we are continuing to fulfill this commitment with the extension of these three key player contracts."
"It's not only great that management is taking continual steps to achieve stability within the Stampeder organization. But it is very positive that players such as these three are committing back to the organization," stated General Manager Jim Barker. "True continuity for the Stampeders is truly a two way street."
"After a full season in the CFL we believe Nik Lewis will take the next step in providing leadership within the team both on and off the field," stated Senior VP of Football Operations/Head Coach Tom Higgins. "Boese is the lone anchor in the secondary from last season, we believe his work ethic and athletic ability will help develop our secondary into a solid unit. In resigning George White, we are able to keep one of the keys to our linebacker core, which will enable the unit to become stronger each and every game."
