Stamps add more speed to defense

(Calgary) – Today Calgary Stampeders' Senior Vice-President of Football Operations/Head Coach, Tom Higgins, announced the free agent signing of Defensive Back Nashville Dyer and Linebacker/Defensive Back Trey Young.

As per Club policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

"The addition of Dyer and Young will add to the competition at this years training camp," stated Senior Vice-President of Football Operations/Head Coach Tom Higgins. "Both of these guys are physical players who can make plays and have a tremendous amount of athletic ability."

Entering his first season with the Calgary Stampeders ... originally singed as a free agent on April 8, 2005 ... signed as an undrafted free agent by the Pittsburgh Steelers on April 28, 2003 ... allocated to Amsterdam Admirals in 2004.

2004

Recorded 15 tackles, three pass knockdowns and one interception with the Amsterdam Admirals in NFL Europe ... the team finished the season with a 5-5 record.

College

Made 31 career starts at Kent State ... during those games Dyer totaled 161 tackles (121 solo) and tied for 10th in school history with 9 career interceptions ... in his senior year Nashville finished the season second on the team with 63 tackles (50 solo) and led the team with 4 interceptions ... in 2001 Dyer led the team and ranked second in MAC with 4 interceptions.

Noteworthy

Named All-Palm Beach County First team at wide receiver as a senior at Suncoast High School in Florida ... earned third-team all-state and first-team all-conference honors in his final season.
