Calgary Stampeders News Release

Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that import defensive back Keon Raymond has signed a contract extension. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Raymond is coming off a season in which he was named a CFL West Division all-star. Raymond had a career-high five interceptions and led the league with 237 interception return yards, thanks largely to a record-setting 117-yard interception return for a touchdown during a game in Saskatchewan. Raymond also had 47 tackles, seven pass knockdowns and one fumble recovery.

"We're pleased that Keon will be with our club for the coming years," said Hufnagel. "He had a remarkable 2011 season and established himself as one of the top defensive backs in the league. I'm excited to see him build off last season."

Raymond's first season with the Stamps was in 2008 when he recorded six tackles and helped the club win the Grey Cup. He had 53 tackles and one interception in2009 and recorded 49 tackles and four interceptions in 2010.

Raymond and his family spent their first off-season in Calgary following the 2010 season and the Raymonds continue to make Calgary their home. Raymond is an active participant in several charitable initiatives in the city.

"Calgary is a great place to play football and to call home," said Raymond. "I really enjoy playing for this organization and look forward to several more great seasons."
