
Stampeders announce guest coaches

(Calgary) â The Calgary Stampeder Football Club is pleased to announce that Jared Buckus, Aaron Brady and Jim Sandusky will be joining the club as guest coaches for the 2005 training camp.
Here is a closer look at each one:
Jared Backus
Jared recently finished his third season with Bucknell University as their special team's coordinator and defensive line coach. In 2002, Backus mentored Bucknell's outside linebacker unit and coordinated the special teams. His special teams units blocked a school-record 10 kicks, and he helped senior OLB Joe Massey earn First Team All-Patriot League honors for the second time. Backus came to Bucknell from the University of Maine, where he served as the Black Bears' defensive line coach and special team's coordinator from 1999-2001. He helped guide Maine to the 2001 Atlantic 10 title and the quarterfinals of the Division I-AA playoffs. A 1993 graduate of Springfield College, Backus was a two-year football letterman as an inside linebacker. His first coaching experience came as a defensive/strength and conditioning intern at King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., in 1994-95. Backus then completed graduate assistantships at Springfield and Rutgers University before taking a position as inside linebackers coach at Lebanon Valley College. In 1998 he was the defensive secondary coach at Pace University. His wife, Amanda, is Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator at Bucknell. The couple welcomed its first child, Garrett, in August 2003.
Aaron Brady
Brady just finished his first season as the special teams coordinator and his second season as the outside linebackers coach at Georgetown University. He arrived on the Hilltop in 2003 after tutoring the defensive line at Clarion University in Clarion, PA. Three players earned All-Conference under Brady and one was named First Team All-American at Clarion. Prior to Clarion he was a G.A. coach at Duke University in 2001 after working as the Recruiting Coordinator and linebackers coach at Mansfield in 2000. Brady was the secondary coach at East Side Newark (N.J.) High for the 1999 season after trying out for the NFL's New York Giants squad over the summer. Rutgers University was home for Brady's collegiate playing days and where he received a B.S. Degree in Sociology in 1999.A native of Hanover, PA., Brady graduated from Southwestern High in 1995, was an NHS member and an outstanding athlete. In football he was a QB/Free Safety and earned First Team All-State honors on defense, plus was a Big 33 game participant his senior year.
Jim Sandusky
In 1998 Jim coached the receiving core of the B.C. Lions for the second straight season. Sandusky started his playing career with the B.C. Lions in 1984. During his 11 year CFL career, Sandusky caught 551 passes for 9,269 yards and 67 touchdowns. Five times he went over the 1,000 yard mark for receiving in a season. Jim was a three time Western All-Star (1987, 91, 92) and two time All-Canadian (1987, 92). Jim attended San Diego State University, UNLV and Walla Walla Community College. He led the nation in receiving yards and punt return average in Division I football while at San Diego State and UNLV. Jim will be joining the Stampeder camp later in camp.
