Idaho Stampede News Release
BOISE, Idaho - Idaho Stampede Head Coach Dean Cooper will show his support for cancer research on Tuesday, Jan. 26 when the team faces the Reno Bighorns at CenturyLink Arena. Cooper, along with the Utah Jazz, will donate $10 for every three-point basket the team makes with all the proceeds going to the Jimmy V Foundation. In addition to the donation, Cooper and Bighorns Head Coach David Arseneault Jr. will both wear white tennis shoes during the game to help raise awareness for the fight against cancer.
"I lost both my parents to cancer so I've seen it up close and personal on two different occasions," said Cooper. "It's always been important to me to recognize the fight against cancer and I just try to do things that would make them proud."
The Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research was formed in 1993 by ESPN and the late Jim Valvano, legendary North Carolina State basketball coach and ESPN commentator. The V Foundation has awarded more that $150 million to more than 120 facilities nationwide and awards 100 percent of direct cash donations to cancer research and related programs.
